Free Lunches Causing Frustration in Cliché Users

Plans to extend free lunches to more pupils has outraged people that rely on well-worn phrases and metaphors.

"We've been fighting this since it was suggested, but it's an uphill battle," grumbled campaigner Herbert Paton. "These folk want to make changes, but they don't get that the grass always looks greener on the other side."

"First they rendered my favourite phrase null," agreed Bill Duff. "Next it'll be the shirt off my back. I never thought they'd have the bottle for it, honestly. Always thought they were the 'better safe than sorry' types."

At press time the campaigners were rallying against a new SNP proposal to value birds in the bush higher than one in the hand.
